I have taken some time away from this painting, due to some birthday celebrating, but I will pickup again this week. Surf is to go 5 feet tomorrow, with offshore winds, so that may take priority on my freetime.
I will post pics of the shutter soon. The painting is proving more time consuming than expected, but that is mostly due to the weathered wood texture.
I am painting it upside down so far, to focus on the drawing getting done right and to get all of the colors down, then I will flip it, and start layering paint. It is a large 84 or so inches wide, and will be for sale or given away.
It is a pic of the sound waters at sunset, taken by my friend Danny Harbert.
Painting pics taking by someone else, and upside down, helps take the emotions out of getting the work done. When a bunch of color is down and preliminary, I will start getting caught up in the layering of paint, and it will start to happen.
To do: get pics posted and stop typing about it.

Offshore fishing
I went offshore fishing today, out of Oregon Inlet Fishing Center on the Outer Banks of NC. Myself and 5 other friends left the docks at 5am and hooked up! 3 Bluefin tunas & 10 Yellowfins. A total of 437lbs. of flesh was weighed in at the fishing center at 430pm, and we were pleased to have so much meat, per person.
It was a great time and I will post a ton of pics soon. The sushi tonight was awesome! Thanks to "the Hooker" boat captain and mate, Matt. They did a great job and we caught tons, while other boats got skunked!! Good times we had by all!

shutter sunset painting
Began working Monday nite on a landscape sunset, on an old cottage shutter. It is big, about 4 feet wide, and the wood is nice and weathered.
I am using a photo a friend provided and will probably make it available for a work boardroom use.
I layed out the drawing with oil pastel, and I am happy with that. I will begin laying color shapes soon and post pics on the progress.
Thanks,
CM
