Cherry Blossom Shutters

I did a series of Cherry Blossom paintings in the winter of 2008-2009. The paintings are a diptych, measuring about 4' x 5', per panel.
Here, they are seen in the Ocean Atlantic Event Rentals showroom, part of a wedding rental display.
They were inspired by a trip to Washington D.C., while my sister was living there, that I took a ton of photos from.
They are currently part of a private collection (in my daughter's room!)

2009 Beachbook Cover Competition

I enter the Beachbook Cover Competition every year, co-sponsored by the Beachbook telephone book and the Dare County Arts Council.
My painting, entitled "Leatherback Turtle with Jellyfish, Panel 3" is a part of a triptych I did to commemorate the celebration of the birth of a leatherback nest in September (I believe). It was the first recorded here in North Carolina, or so I was told by some local friends.
The Triptych is done on window shutters, taken from a Kill Devil Hills home (by permission, of course) and was a lot of fun. I will post the pics of the complete 3 paintings next, but this "one" panel was entered into the show. The price is $800, and it measures 3' wide by 4' tall. I had a lot of fun working on these shutters, and I will be cranking out about 20 more this winter.
